Ekiti Chief Judge
Wall collapse in Ekiti, CJ escapes death. In 2021 in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State House of Assembly vetted and confirmed Justice Oyewole Adeyeye as the state’s substantive Chief Judge.
The confirmation was consequent upon adoption of the report of the House Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters Chairman, Tajudeen Akingbolu, during plenary led by the Speaker, Mr Funminiyi Afuye.
Akingbolu, who said ‘the committee found the new chief judge worthy and fit for the job”, called on members to expeditiously confirm him.
The Speaker, Afuye, had earlier read a letter dated October 4 from the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, requesting confirmation of the acting CJ following the retirement in May 2021 of the former CJ, Justice Ayodeji Daramola.
Today, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, Chief Judge of Ekiti State, almost escaped death on Wednesday when a piece of the state high court building collapsed on him while he was in his office.
When the sad situation occurred, Adeyeye was still in his chamber.
The chief judge was injured, but according to reports, he is currently receiving proper medical care at an unnamed hospital.
The collapse of the wall is most likely related to the structural weakness produced by the recent heavy rains.
Attempts to contact the court registrar for more information on the case were futile.
