Oshiomole
Senators demand apology from Oshiomole. In response to accusations of vandalism made against them, certain senators, notably those who were elected from the ninth Assembly, have requested an apology from their colleague, Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC Edo North).
Oshiomhole, at the Politics Today programme on Channels Television on Sunday, alleged that senators and House of Representatives members of the 9th National Assembly carted away items in their various offices, including rugs.
He said he and most of the federal lawmakers in the 10th National Assembly used their personal money to put their offices in shape.
Oshiomole said, “In spite of the presence of security men and women, television sets, carpets, and chairs were looted by the immediate past senators and House of Representatives members.
“The former legislators left their offices in shambles with holes in the walls, which had to be fixed by serving lawmakers from their pockets.”
However, Senator Adeola Solomon (APC Ogun West) presented a resolution on Tuesday at the plenary calling for Oshiomhole to apologize.
He stated that his privilege had been exploited and that the remark was embarrassing to the MPs.
My privilege has been abused,” Solomon remarked. A senator from the Federal Republic of Nigeria claimed on national television that the members of the ninth Assembly, of which I was a member, had stolen office supplies.
“Everyone is aware that a senator or their staff cannot leave the National Assembly without leaving a trail of evidence.
“Each of the items was examined and found to be compliant, and the corresponding sums are subtracted from severance packages.”
The senator must apologize to the House or face the Ethics and Privileges Committee, I hereby demand.
Adeola was seconded and supported by Senator Adamu Aliero (PDP Kebbi Central).
