A private radio station in Ekiti bans airing Naira Marley’s songs. On Tuesday morning, Fresh FM 106.9 FM, a privately owned radio station in Ado, Ekiti State, announced a temporary ban on the broadcast of songs by the Nigerian artist Azeez Fashola, widely recognized as Naira Marley, until further notice.

This announcement was made via a post on the radio station’s Instagram account (@freshfm1069adoekiti) and was signed by Oluwaseunfunmi Williams, the Head of Production and Music Content of the radio station.

The restriction comes after the death of Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, also known as MohBad and allegations against Naira Marley.

Also in the early hours of Monday 18th of September, Splash FM 105.5 FM, Ibadan, Oyo state, banned the broadcast of Naira Marley songs.

Recall that Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley at Marlian Records, died at the age of 27 last Tuesday.

“Following the public outcry from the general public trialing the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), the alleged victimisation from different videos going viral and the involvement of members of his previous record label (Marlian records), fresh 106.9 fm has suspended the airplay of all songs and contents under the banner of Marlian Records,” The statements read.

On Monday, the Lagos State Police Command established a dedicated investigative team to probe the circumstances surrounding the demise of Mohbad. The team is anticipated to provide an interim report within a span of two weeks.
