The House of Representatives observed a moment of silence on Tuesday to honor the late Afrobeats artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who passed away at the age of 27.
Mohbad’s demise occurred on September 12, 2023, and he was laid to rest the following day. The lower chamber paid this tribute at the outset of an executive session during its resumed plenary session in Abuja.
Following this solemn moment, the House proceeded to address a motion of urgent importance, introduced by Mr. Babajimi Benson, the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency. As part of the resolution, the House committed to monitoring the investigation and issues related to royalties concerning the deceased artist.
Benson also emphasized the necessity of reviewing laws within the entertainment industry, particularly copyright law, and expressed concerns regarding contracts and agreements that pertain to entertainers.
Celebrity Telegraph.com report that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, initiated an investigative panel to examine the circumstances surrounding the late singer’s demise.
However, In a recent development, Perez Medcare Hospital, where Mohbad was taken, released a statement concerning the singer’s death.
In the statement shared on its Instagram page on Monday night, the hospital stated that the singer was brought to the hospital dead. The hospital also debunked rumors that the singer was admitted to the hospital.
