The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kaduna State, Kabir Yusuf Nadabo, has raised concerns over alleged intimidation of FRSC personnel by certain politicians in the state. Speaking at a media briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Kaduna, Nadabo emphasized the critical role of his command in ensuring road safety for citizens. He expressed dismay at attempts to restrict FRSC patrols to highways, highlighting the potential consequences for accident response in township areas. Nadabo also called for collaborative efforts with state traffic agencies, particularly in Kaduna, Kano, and Lagos, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing public safety over revenue generation.

Nadabo underscored the complementary role of state traffic agencies, designed to bolster road safety efforts in areas where FRSC personnel may be limited. He stressed the proactive engagement of FRSC teams in traffic control and public education, emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding lives. The commander urged leaders to refrain from intertwining politics with the imperative of ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens. He noted the disparity between the focus on security and the neglect of safety in the country, citing the alarming statistic of 59 VIP-related accidents within a four-year period.

In conclusion, Nadabo reiterated his dedication to serving the people of Kaduna State and called for a unified approach to prioritize the safety and well-being of all Nigerians. He emphasized that safety should be regarded with the same gravity as security, underscoring its fundamental importance in safeguarding lives
