Woman arrested for kidnap in Niger. The Niger State Police Command detained a 51-year-old woman for allegedly snatching a three-year-old daughter and attempting to sell her for N530,000 to a buyer.

The suspect, who was accused of stealing the girl from her parents in Minna’s Tudun-Natsira neighborhood, was apprehended while attempting to board a bus bound for Nnewi, Anambra State.

Abiodun Wasiu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, announced this on Friday in a statement, saying the girl had been reunited with her parents.

“On October 25, 2023, around 7.30pm, oneBlessing Jeremiah, 51, of Keteren-Gwari, Minna, was seen at a bus park around Maitumbi Bye-pass Minna, in an attempt to board a bus,” according to the statement.

“Tudun-Wada Division police operatives were immediately dispatched to the park and apprehended the suspect with the girl child.” During questioning, she admitted to taking the child from a compound in Minna’s Tudun-Natsira neighborhood at 6 p.m. on the same date.

“She claimed that she intended to take the child to one Ejima at Nnewi, Anambra State, who contracted her to get a female child for her at the rate of N530,000 while a sum of N230,000 was recovered from the suspect.

 

“However, the girl has been reunited with her family, case is under investigation at SCID Minna as effort is ongoing to apprehend the said Ejima.”
