INEC uploads 9,925 election results. The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday, uploaded a total of 9,903 election results on its Results Viewing portal from Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections. The off-cycle polls were held on Saturday, November 11, 2023. As of the time of filing this report (8:40 pm), INEC has uploaded 2,123 election results out of 2,242 from the Bayelsa governorship election. Also, for Kogi, the commission uploaded 3,396 results out of 3,508. Also, for Imo State, INEC has uploaded 4,406 election results out of 4,720.

Athan Achonu, the Labour Party candidate for governor of Imo State, has accused security officers of allegedly assisting members of the All Progressives Congress in rigging the election.

Achonu, while briefing journalists on Sunday after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the governor of the state and candidate of the APC in the election, Hope Uzodimma, as the winner of the election, said the role played by the security agents in the election was condemnable.

He claimed to have won the election but the security agents allegedly assisted the APC members to hijack the electoral process and rewrote the results.

Achonu, who announced that he would challenge Uzodimma’s victory in court, described the actions of security agents as “a rape on the country’s democracy.”
