Nationwide industrial action suspended by TUC and NLC

Nationwide industrial action suspended by TUC and NLC. The leadership of the National Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Commission (TUC) has made the decision to call off the nationwide strike on Wednesday. According to the unions, the suspension took place following the intervention of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

The meeting commenced shortly after 7 pm and lasted for approximately one hour. During this period, various affiliates and state chapters evaluated the outcomes of the meeting held between organised labour leaders and Ribadu.

The labour union initiated a protest in response to the physical assault on their National President, Joe Ajaero, and the government’s failure to effectively implement certain agreements made on October 2, 2023.

Earlier today, the National Security Agency (NSA) made a public announcement revealing that the individuals believed to be responsible for the attack on Ajeoro have been apprehended. The NSA has urged the union to consider suspending the ongoing strike.
