Petroleum tankers
Petrol tanker driver refuted claim of protest. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers’ Petroleum Tanker Drivers section has denied reports that its members are organizing a demonstration.
Mr Augustine Egbon, National Chairman of the PTD, stated in an Abuja statement on Monday that the union’s members had no plans to demonstrate.
He alerted the general public to the antics of some desperate and mischievous individuals.
“That is to cause an unfounded and dangerous panic in the supply chain of petroleum products distribution in the country through the spreading of fake and false news items.
“Our members are not protesting in any way, and we are determined to continue serving the nation.”
“We wholeheartedly support President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to get our economy back on track for the benefit of all of us.”
He also reaffirmed that there was unity among the union members and advised the public to shun the rumours.
Egbon encouraged law enforcement to investigate the source of such erroneous information.
He went on to say that PTD members were fully devoted and unified in their collective fights because they thought that workers who worked together could never be defeated.
“The general public is implored to ignore these mischief makers, and security agencies are hereby called upon to fully investigate these panic-creating news items as the citizens are already going through enough tough times and situations,” he went on to say.
