Seven suspects arrested in Kano over protest

Seven suspects arrested in Kano over protest. According to the Kano State Police Command, some organizations are preparing to incite violence in the state in response to the Appeal Court verdict that ousted Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Usaini Gumel, the State Police Commissioner, told reporters on Monday that the command had apprehended seven people and that they will be charged in court soon.

He stated that some faceless organizations claiming to be traders are congregating in various parts of the state, including some local government areas, and assured that the command is on top of the matter.

“Intelligence reports at our disposal show that these so-called traders use religion to perpetuate their acts,” he stated.

“Some patriotic Nigerians, came to us from Bebeji, Wudil and some other areas, reporting that some people are hiding under the guise of reading the Quran in the names of prayers, and already we have sent our men and dispersed them,” he went on to say.

Gumel expressed concern that the organizations were attempting to incite resentment toward the police by alleging that they harassed women while dispersing them.

“These faceless groups are planning to send negative messages through the social media and traditional media against the Police and they are putting pressure to achieve their bad intentions,” he added.
