US embassy gives account of Nigerians interviewed in 2023. The US Embassy in Nigeria reported that it interviewed over 150,000 Nigerians, including 30,000 students, who filed for visas to the US this year.
Mr. David Greene, the CEO, made the announcement on Sunday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
He also reassured visa applicants that the mission was committed to resolving any visa-related issues.
According to him, visa troubles would be a thing of the past, and the mission is doing everything in its power to address such challenges.
“When it comes to visas, well, it’s a simple fact: the demand for visa appointments outnumbers the supply.”
“Those appointments are now available, and we’re doing everything we can to close the gap.” What most people don’t realize is that we interviewed over 150,000 Nigerians this year.
“This is on top of the 30,000 students.” Hundreds of thousands of students have had the option to apply for US visas.
“We are doing everything we can to get proper ways for all of the categories, despite having a massive backlog as a result of COVID-19 and all that.”
“However, we have made significant progress.” “We instituted a five-year term for visas to the United States in March,” he continued.
He urged people who want to visit the United States to apply early and to make sure their visa petitions are related to specific events.
“People seeking visas should apply as soon as possible, making sure that the plan is for an event.”
“This is because we do acknowledge that there is a backlog, and we will do what we can to make sure people that need a warrant visa to the US can get them,” he said
