Peter Obi stands against corruption
Peter Obi stands against corruption. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has encouraged Nigerian political leaders to avoid unethical practices. He stated that corrupt officials are providing a negative example for the children.
In response to the alleged high percentage of youths engaged in cybercrime, Obi remarked, “Where are the children learning such criminality from, if not from us the parents, especially from us the leaders?”
In a long post on his X handle on Sunday, the former Anambra State Governor partly wrote, “As the global community marked International Anti-Corruption Day yesterday, we need to soberly reflect on the effect of corruption in our society and on our country.”
“Corruption has emerged as the most serious threat to our national existence, particularly to democracy, peace, and progress.” It has severely hampered our nation’s development.”
“The gross abuse of the rule of law, as well as disrespect for our constitution, are all results of the endemic corruption that has eaten through the fabric of our society,” he added.
“More sadly, we as leaders are not setting very good examples for our children by engaging in all forms of corrupt practices.”
“The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, was recently quoted as lamenting the high proportion of Nigerian youths involved in cybercrime.” The issue we must all ask is, “Where are the children learning such criminality if not from us, the parents, and especially from us, the leaders?”
He stated that he was still devoted to making Nigeria a corruption-free nation.
