17 official cars given to commissioners -Gombe governor. Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya delivered cars to 17 Commissioners on Friday, encouraging them to use the vehicles for the purposes for which they were granted.

According to our correspondent, the official vehicles are new GAC GS4 cars.

The governor stated that the distribution of the automobiles was an allocation, not a donation, and that it was done to ensure that they performed successfully and efficiently while also lowering transportation costs.

“This is not a donation because it is not for free,” Yahaya explained. I’d like to take use of this occasion to assign and provide these vehicles to our commissioners so that they can use them; due to the prestige of the position, they must travel with the full complement of the office.

“It’s a tradition we have already done that to House of Assembly members so that they can participate in governance and carry out their oversight functions without any hitch.”

Yahaya emphasized the importance of commissioners understanding the global economic environment, warning them to be cautious because the vehicles would be retrieved if they were used for illegitimate purposes.

“Everyone knows that the trend around the whole world is inflation and depreciation of the value of the naira and so many things around the economy.”We must exercise caution in all we do. Reduce governance costs while still performing as administrators; this is why Commissioners and entire Ministries, Departments, and Agencies have vehicles to operate efficiently and effectively, and it’s why it’s important.

“This time, we must take extra precautions because it is a public asset, and we must treat it as we would our own property.” We must lead by example; when you lead, others will follow, and you must lead from the front. I implore you to properly manage these cars by putting them to use for the benefit of the people. We will retrieve the vehicles and return them to the ministry if we detect them engaging in any illegal activity. “I want to encourage you to make good use of the vehicles,” Yahaya added.

Responding Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Zubair Umar, praised the governor’s efforts and promised on behalf of his colleagues.

“With this allocation made to us, we will use them properly and carefully,” he said. We know that if we don’t manage, we’ll have to spend more money sustaining them for the duration of our term and beyond.”
