First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu
First lady of Nigeria visits Akeredolu’s family. On Saturday, the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and the Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima, made a condolence visit to the family of the late former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Mrs Tinubu praised the late Akeredolu as a great man during the visit, saying that Nigeria has lost one of its great heroes.
“I keep asking when people ask, ‘Is somebody alright or is he sick?'” she explained. ‘Who is well?’ I inquired. We are all sick in some way, and it is only God who grants us each day to survive.
“He did his best.” He was a great, fearless man who was adored by my family.
“We can only wish that the legacies he left behind could continue and endure. I wish his wife, his children, grand children and the family that God will comfort them and also ease their pains.
“They should accept that the man has done well.” He did good for many, he will be much missed, and we hope that his soul rests in perfect peace.”
According to the PUNCH, Akeredolu died on Wednesday, December 27, at the age of 67, while being treated for prostate cancer in a German hospital.
Following the death of the governor, Ondo State’s acting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was sworn in as substantive governor on the same day.
