The Police High Command has disclosed the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a former officer of the Nigerian Air Force who was caught supplying military camouflage and other gear to bandits in Zamfara State.

The dismissed personnel, Ahmed Mohammed, who served at the Air Force Base in Kaduna for five years before being court-martialed, introduced the sale of military equipment to Mushiri Abubakar, a childhood friend.

According to police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi, the duo supplied military camouflage to notorious bandit Bello Turji and his gang, who have been wreaking havoc in Zamfara State.

During a recent interception operation, the police seized various military items being transported from Kaduna to Zamfara. Among the recovered items were military camouflage uniforms, camel packs, hats, cardigans, T-shirts, belts, and anklets.

Both Mohammed and Abubakar were apprehended during the operation, shedding light on the network supplying arms and ammunition to bandits. The police emphasized the importance of dismantling such criminal syndicates to weaken the bandits’ power and ensure the safety of innocent citizens.
