NiMet issues warning over Three-Day hazy weather
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a warning regarding haziness and cloudiness expected across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
NiMet cautioned individuals, especially those with respiratory issues, to be vigilant of the weather conditions and to consider wearing masks for protection.
According to NiMet’s weather forecast released in Abuja, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km is anticipated over the northern and north-central states during this period. However, patches of clouds are expected over the South Inland region.
Additionally, isolated thunderstorms are forecasted over various states in the afternoon and evening, including Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa.
On Tuesday, similar weather conditions are expected over the northern and north-central regions, with the exception of Kwara, Benue, and Kogi states where patches of clouds are anticipated. Meanwhile, patches of clouds are also expected over the South Inland and Coastal areas.
Wednesday’s forecast predicts a slight dust haze over the northern region, with patches of clouds in the north-central region except for specific states like Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi where isolated thunderstorms may occur later in the day. Similar to previous days, patches of clouds are expected over the South Inland and Coastal regions, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms.
NiMet emphasized the importance of respiratory protection, especially for individuals with respiratory issues. Additionally, it advised airline operators to stay updated on weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective operational planning.
