Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged for stronger collaboration and the adoption of technology among stakeholders in both the public and private sectors to bolster Nigeria’s business environment.

His call comes as the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) initiates its 90-day Regulatory Reform Accelerator Action Plan aimed at enhancing business operations in the country.

According to a statement from the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, the action plan underscores the commitment of the Tinubu administration to implementing impactful reforms that promote a favorable business climate.

During the second PEBEC meeting chaired by Vice President Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, he emphasized the importance of robust engagement and leveraging relevant technology to address challenges faced by businesses at entry points and in regulatory processes.

The 90-Day Regulatory Reform Accelerator focuses on eight key indicators aimed at driving measurable growth across industries and institutionalizing reforms led by government agencies.

Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Special Adviser to the President on PEBEC and Investment, highlighted the plan’s focus on delivering export-focused impact across key sectors to boost productivity and competitiveness, aligning with the economic objectives of the Tinubu administration.

The plan will involve close collaboration with stakeholders, with PEBEC providing regular updates on its progress.

The kick-off of the 90-Day Regulatory Reform Accelerator Action Plan was preceded by an engagement session with PEBEC Priority MDA Reform Champions, during which performance tracking mechanisms were discussed, including fortnightly meetings and a town hall session scheduled to be hosted by the Vice President in Q2 2024.

The meeting also saw the participation of key government officials, including Justice Tijjani Abubakar, Sen. Sadiq Umar, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Festus Keyamo, Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam, Bosun Tijani, Adegboyega Oyetola, and Mariya Bunkure, among others.
