Military warns against coup as Defence Academy attack mastermind killed
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has strongly condemned any calls for a coup d’état in Nigeria, asserting that such actions are detrimental to the nation’s democracy. Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Gen. Musa emphasized the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding democracy and protecting the nation.
Meanwhile, in Kaduna, the Kaduna State Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, announced the elimination of the mastermind behind the August 2021 attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy, Boderi Isyaku, by troops on Wednesday.
Gen. Musa reiterated the military’s stance against any form of coup, affirming their dedication to democracy. He urged Nigerians to exercise patience amidst economic challenges, assuring them of impending improvements in living conditions.
In a separate development, troops led by Maj. Gen. V.U. Okoro intercepted and killed Boderi Isyaku, a notorious bandit responsible for various deadly attacks in Kaduna and neighbouring states. Isyaku’s criminal activities included the abduction of students, civilians, and prominent figures, as well as collaborations with terrorist groups.
Governor Uba Sani commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism, pledging continued support to security forces in Kaduna State.
