Ighodalo Calls for Issue-Based Campaigns, Congratulates APC and LP Candidates
Asue Ighodalo, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, extended congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) on their emergence as candidates for their respective parties.
In a statement released on Monday, Ighodalo urged his fellow candidates to prioritize issue-based campaigns leading up to the governorship election. He emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Edo State and urged all candidates to refrain from divisive rhetoric.
Highlighting the negative impact of hate speech and divisive messaging during previous elections, Ighodalo reiterated his commitment to running a campaign focused on uniting the people of Edo. He pledged to address the issues that matter most to the citizens without resorting to insults or ethnic polarization.
Expressing concern over the economic challenges facing the people, Ighodalo outlined his vision to uplift millions of citizens out of poverty by prioritizing security, infrastructure development, and economic growth. He emphasized his team’s dedication to creating jobs and improving the lives of the people of Edo State.
Ighodalo’s victory in the PDP Governorship primaries held at the Ogbe Stadium sports complex on February 22, 2024, solidified his position as the party’s candidate for the upcoming election.
