Navy Appoints New Spokesperson

The Nigerian Navy has announced the appointment of Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu as its new spokesperson, succeeding Rear Admiral Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan. This change in leadership comes as Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of the Naval Staff, appointed Adams-Aliu to assume the role of Director of Naval Information.

 

In a statement released by Rear Admiral J.D. Akpan, Chief of Policy and Plans, it was revealed that Rear Admiral Ayo-Vaughan has been redeployed to Headquarters Naval Training Command as the Chief Staff Officer. Commodore Adams-Aliu, the son of esteemed journalist Sir Adams-Aliu, brings a wealth of experience to his new position.

 

Born into a family with a rich journalistic background, Adams-Aliu’s early exposure to the media industry instilled in him a passion for public speaking and media relations. His educational journey saw him attend Shepherd Hill Primary School and Kings College Lagos before joining the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1995, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1999.

 

Throughout his naval career, Adams-Aliu has undergone extensive professional training, including courses at prestigious institutions such as the United States Army Infantry School and the Armed Forces Command and Staff College. He further honed his skills at the Naval War College in Nigeria and the United States Naval War College.

 

Adams-Aliu’s naval service spans various roles, from Watch Keeping Officer onboard Nigerian Navy Ships to serving as a military observer in the United Nations Mission in Liberia. Notable highlights include his leadership as the Officer in Charge of the Nigerian Navy Ship BENIN and as Squadron Commander of the SHALDAG Boat squadron.

 

In his most recent roles, Adams-Aliu served as the Pioneer Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Ship KARADUWA, contributing to the development of the nation’s indigenous Seaward Defence Boat program. His appointment as the official spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy underscores his dedication and expertise in maritime affairs.
