Taraba varsity students freed after kidnapping

Two students, Joshua Sardauna and Obianu Elizabeth, who were kidnapped at the Federal University Wukari (FUW) in Taraba State, have been released from captivity. The university’s Head of Information and Protocol, Ashu Agbu, confirmed their freedom, stating that it was secured Thursday night after an undisclosed sum was paid to the kidnappers.

Mr. Sardauna, an Economics student, and Miss Obianu, from the Microbiology department, were abducted earlier this month from an eatery on the university’s premises. Initially demanding N50 million ransom, the kidnappers eventually settled for N12 million, which was further negotiated down to N700,000.

The students’ abduction occurred when the kidnappers mistakenly targeted the eatery’s owner. Fortunately, negotiations led to their safe release.
