Abduction crisis: Kidnappers demand N100m for release of Ortom’s ex-aide's wife and maid

The wife, Mrs. Abigail Orbunde, and housemaid, Patience Ogute, of Terwase Orbunde, former Chief of Staff to the ex-governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, have been abducted, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N100 million.

Tahav Argezua, a close ally of Orbunde, revealed this in a statement on Saturday, following the attack on Orbunde, his wife, and maid while inspecting their farm near the Genocide Cemetery in Makurdi.

Orbunde, currently receiving treatment for gunshot wounds, conveyed that the abductors communicated with him through the captives, demanding the ransom. They spoke Fulani among themselves and used Hausa to communicate with Orbunde, warning of dire consequences if the ransom was not paid.

The situation remains tense as Orbunde’s wife and maid remain in captivity, with fears for their safety growing amidst the escalating ransom demands.
