Another Wike ally resigns over redeployment dispute
The Rivers State Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, has tendered his resignation from the State Executive Council, citing disagreement with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s decision to redeploy him. Kamalu, a staunch supporter of Minister Nyesom Wike, objected to Fubara’s claim of a monthly Internally Generated Revenue increase of N27 billion. His resignation follows his redeployment to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment by the governor. In a letter addressed to Fubara through the Secretary to the State Government, Kamalu expressed frustration with the prevailing atmosphere of doubt and bitterness, making governance challenging. He highlighted his dedication to the state and his belief in the importance of peace for effective service delivery. Kamalu firmly rejected his redeployment and tendered his immediate resignation from the State Executive Council, emphasizing the need for peace in Rivers State.
