Tragic incident: Husband fatally stabs wife in Ondo, friend also remanded for murder.
In a tragic turn of events, a 30-year-old man named Fatai Abdullahi reportedly stabbed his wife, Morenike, to death following a minor argument in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
According to police sources, the crime occurred on March 27, 2024, when Abdullahi allegedly used scissors to fatally wound his wife during the altercation.
State police spokesperson Funmi Odunlami stated that preliminary investigations revealed a history of quarrels between the couple, particularly regarding Morenike’s visits to her child from a previous marriage. After committing the heinous act, Abdullahi took photographs of the deceased and locked her body inside their home before raising an alarm.
Further examination uncovered injuries consistent with stabbing on Morenike’s stomach and neck, and a blood-stained pair of scissors suspected to be the murder weapon was recovered from the scene.
Abdullahi is currently in police custody awaiting trial for the murder of his wife.
In a separate incident, a 25-year-old man named Tajudeen Narudeen has been remanded in the Okitipupa Correctional Centre for fatally stabbing another man with a knife. Narudeen was arraigned before Chief Magistrate B.A. Ikusika on a charge of criminal insubordination.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on April 13, 2024, around 9:00 pm at Olorunyomi Street, Odigbo, Ondo State, where Narudeen allegedly stabbed Nathaniel Onakujo in the back, causing him injury.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case has been adjourned until May 20, 2024, for further hearing.
