Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has advised Muslims embarking on the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage to fully engage in the spiritual exercise and represent the State positively. He also subsidized the cost of the 2024 Hajj for the Pilgrims in the state, emphasizing the privilege of participating in the exercise and the expected spiritual upliftment.

Fubara’s advice was given at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area, where the Pilgrims were gathered for airlifting on Tuesday. The Governor extended the gesture to pilgrims of other states in the South-South and South-East zones, urging them to pray fervently for the betterment of Rivers State and Nigeria in light of the country’s challenges.

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abdulrazaq Deprieye, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s support, highlighting the crucial role played by Governor Fubara and the Almighty God in making the exercise possible.

The pilgrims, sponsored by the state government and a private pilgrim, are ready for airlifting, with 47 pilgrims in total. Alhaji Deprieye noted the Governor’s exceptional commitment to the welfare of Muslims in the State and his prompt payment of the Hajj dues.

Later, Governor Fubara made a detour to visit the scene of a Tuesday morning accident involving a gas tanker on the Obiri-Ikwerre Interchange Flyover. He was briefed on the response of the fire service men and observed the charred remains of the tanker at the accident location.
