The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the South West region, DIG Biodun Alabi, emphasized the importance of respecting human rights while addressing officers at the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force in Eleweran, Abeokuta. He urged police officers to maintain the highest level of discipline and exemplary conduct to earn the respect and support of the general public in the discharge of their duties. Alabi also warned that the authorities would take decisive action against any officer found violating the rights of the people, as human rights abuse significantly affects the image of the police.

Alabi’s visit to the state was in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police for all DIGs to visit the states under their supervision. He was received by the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, and other top hierarchy of the command.

During his address, Alamutu acknowledged the security challenges faced by Ogun as the industrial hub of the nation and the neighboring states and countries, assuring that the command was rising to the challenges.

Furthermore, the DIG paid a courtesy call on the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, to receive his royal blessings and discuss the force’s plan to effectively police the country. Oba Gbadebo expressed gratitude to the police force for ensuring peace through effective community policing and offered prayers for their continued success.
