Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has assured the Ijesa Muslim Community that the Ilesa Central Mosque will not be demolished in the ongoing Ilesa road dualisation project.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Friday, Governor Adeleke reiterated his commitment during the ‘Ipade Imole’ governor community engagement program held in Ilesa. He emphasized that the mosque would remain intact despite the ongoing construction.

The statement partly read, “Governor Adeleke has received the plea of the Ijesa Muslim leaders and has directed that fresh assurance be given that the mosque is not billed for demolition in the ongoing road dualisation.”

The governor clarified that only the extended canopies would be affected, not the main building as previously feared. He also instructed officials from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to engage with the Muslim leaders regarding the matter.

Praising the community’s support for the road dualisation project, Adeleke reaffirmed his dedication to the infrastructure upgrade, highlighting the importance of local content and active community involvement.
