Youth Empowerment: UBA celebrates Africa day with renewed commitment.
To commemorate this year’s Africa Day, the United Bank for Africa (UBA) has reiterated its commitment to empowering young leaders. In a statement, the bank highlighted that the celebration took place across its 20 African subsidiaries, as well as branches in New York, the United Kingdom, France, and Dubai. The event aimed to inspire Africans both at home and abroad to embrace patriotism and their cultural heritage.
This year’s Africa Day theme, ‘Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa,’ underscores UBA’s dedication to education. The bank emphasized its passion for education through initiatives such as its foundation’s National Essay Competition, which awards scholarships to winners.
Oliver Alawuba, the Group Managing Director of UBA, stated that the bank’s mission has always focused on empowering Africa’s youth by enhancing their critical thinking skills and preparing them for leadership roles across the continent. He stressed the importance of unity for Africa’s future, noting, “Unity is critical and very important for the future of Africa; we need to remain united to achieve our aspirations, and the youth are critical to that growth.”
