Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization has celebrated her son, Uzodinma Iweala, the author of the Beast of no Nation for emerging as the as 2023 Leo Award recipient. In a statement published via her Verified Twitter handle, “@NOIweala”, she wrote :
Congratulations to my son Dr Uzodinma Iweala for winning the Independent Curators International 2023 Leo Award for his leadership of the Africa Center in New York. So proud of you!!
Recall that Independent Curators International (ICI) named Uzodinma as the recipient of the prestigious award.
The Leo Award honors exceptional achievements in contemporary art and is named after the renowned art dealer Leo Castelli. Candice Hopkins, Dimitris Daskalopoulos, Marian Goodman, Michael Govan, Steve McQueen, Miuccia Prada, and Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo received the prize previously.
