Atiku Abubakar
Atiku encourages Muslims to pray for Nigeria. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has asked Nigerian Muslims to pray for the country at Eid prayer sites.
In a statement published by his Media Office in Abuja on Tuesday, Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections, made the demand.
He stated that Nigeria is currently in desperate need of prayers.
“We must continue to ask God Almighty to show His blessings upon the country and to elevate Nigeria to a path of peace, harmony, and prosperity,” he stated.
In addition to greeting Muslims on this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival, Abubakar advised Muslims in Nigeria to learn patience from Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) sacrifice.
He stated that the festival’s significance was about the benefits of being patient with God in human circumstances, particularly as Muslims.
He reminded the believers of their need to emulate Prophets Ibrahim (AS) and Muhammad (SAW) by being courteous and generous to those around them.
“All prophets of Allah’s scriptures are replete with good examples of how they interacted with everyone during their lifetimes.”
“We are also enjoined to follow in the footsteps of the prophets, particularly Prophet Muhammad, which means that we must live our daily lives as a sacrifice, not only for our families, but also for the communities in which we find ourselves,” Atiku stated.
Furthermore, the former vice president urged Muslims not to overindulge in Eid celebrations.
He urged people with wealth to share the joy of the holiday with those in need.
