Fayose says he will critisize Tinubu if he fails. Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, warned on Thursday that if President Bola Tinubu breaks his campaign pledges, he will not hesitate to criticize him.
“If Asiwaju breaks his promise, all he said while campaigning, I will be the first to speak up.” “I am not afraid,” Fayose said to State House Correspondents shortly after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
He did, however, observe that Tinubu had done well since taking office and should be commended.
Fayose said that now that the elections are done, Nigerians must rally behind the president, whom he described as awake and ready to address the country’s challenges.
“The steps taken thus far can easily provide us with the direction of this government.” Elections have come and gone, with no impact on the courts.
“But it is no longer time for campaigning or selling a political party; it is time to govern Nigeria for the benefit of unborn children and those of us who are still alive, and I also want to let you know that I had a fantastic time with the President.”
“You will see him very alert and clear in the direction he wants to take the country, but he can’t do it alone, he needs all of us,” Fayose remarked.
He stated that, while he and several opposition party leaders, like Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde and former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, are working with Tinubu, he will never join the All Progressives Congress since he is still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
“I will never be a member of the APC,” the former governor stated. I am a PDP supporter. If anything forces me out of the PDP or if I never again engage in partisan politics, I will be the husband of my wife at home.
“It is not a party issue; Nigeria is larger than all political parties and interest groups combined.” It is not necessary to book an appointment to make a difference.
“Nigeria has about 200 million people; we can’t all be on the appointment, whether in the APC or in the attempt to form a government of national unity; it’s all about service.”
In response to a question about his constancy, Fayose stated that he is now supporting the president.
He did, however, state that he would not hesitate to criticize him if he broke his promises to Nigerians.
“I want to assure you that Nigerians are well aware of my presence when President Buhari arrives.” I stated unequivocally from the start that the president will fail miserably. I did not conceal it.
“Let me tell you, if Asiwaju backs down on his campaign promises, I will be the first to speak up.” I am not afraid of problems, and I am not afraid to face them.
“But the man I saw today, and the actions we have seen, means well for Nigeria,” Fayose added.
