ICPC begins tracking N7.3bn projects in Borno
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has initiated the tracking of more than 70 executive and constituency projects valued at N7.3 billion in various locations across Borno State. This endeavor, undertaken at the direction of the Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, aims to ensure transparent and fraud-free execution of these budgeted projects. The entire board of the commission is involved in overseeing this process to guarantee its integrity.
Abubakar Gujja, a Principal Superintendent at the Borno State office of the ICPC, stated that the objective is to verify the satisfactory completion and utilization of these projects. The tracking exercise is scheduled to span two weeks. If any irregularities or violations are identified during the project tracking, recommendations will be included in the subsequent report. This may involve requiring contractors to return to the site for rectification or suggesting the reimbursement of funds allocated for the project.
Gujja also noted that in regions susceptible to Boko Haram attacks, the ICPC will collaborate with security agencies to ensure the safety of personnel engaged in the project tracking process.
