Tragic Death of Delta Teacher Sparks Outcry; Colleagues Seek Justice
In a grievous incident, a teacher, Sunday Ufah, met his untimely demise within the premises of Alihame Mixed Secondary School, Agbor. Ufah was allegedly assaulted by a pupil’s father, known as Uweke, leading to his tragic passing. The altercation arose after the pupil and companions consumed palm wine from a local farm, prompting the school’s intervention.
According to a community source, “The father approached the school, asserting that his son was disciplined for partaking in the palm wine incident. In a shocking turn of events, he lashed out at the teacher with a cane. The teacher collapsed and fought for his life, but no one dared to confront the man due to fear. After the assailant departed, the teacher was rushed to a hospital, but regrettably, he was declared deceased upon arrival.”
The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ika South chapter, expressed their outrage through a peaceful protest, demanding justice for their fallen colleague. Isaac Arimokwu, the branch Chairman, urged the Delta State Government and law enforcement to swiftly apprehend the assailant.
