Sanwo-Olu submits Lagos 2024 budget to House. On Wednesday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will deliver the 2024 Budget to the Lagos State House of Assembly.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the budget, which will outline planned capital projects, recurrent expenditure, and projected revenue for the fiscal year, will be brought before the House of Assembly for deliberation.

 

“This presentation will follow the Y2023 Budget’s over 80% impressive performance in Capital Expenditure across Q1, Q2, and Q3,” he stated.

“Representatives from economic, political, cultural, and civil society organizations are expected to attend the event.” Some television stations will also broadcast it live.”

The House of Representatives expressed its displeasure on Monday with the increase in the personnel component of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies from N4.1trn in the Appropriation Act for 2023 to N4.79trn in the proposed budget for 2024.

According to the House Committee on Appropriations, the enormous discrepancy of N621 billion is concerning.

Abubakar Bichi, Chairman of the Committee, voiced concern in Abuja during an interactive session with Mr. Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, on the 2023 budget performance and 2024 budget defense.

Some politicians who spoke at the event requested crude oil production and sales statistics, as well as the execution of the Steve Oronsanye report on civil service reforms, in order to reduce the exorbitant cost of government.
