Ahead of the primary election slated for February 17, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has given the green light to all 12 governorship aspirants. These aspirants are contending for the party’s gubernatorial ticket in the forthcoming September 2024 polls.

A screening process, overseen by the APC’s National Gubernatorial Aspirants Screening Committee, chaired by Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, took place from February 8 to February 9, 2024. This committee ensured the thorough vetting of all aspirants, culminating in their clearance for participation in the primary election.

Notable figures among the cleared aspirants include former Minister of State for National Economic Planning, Clem Agba; Senator Monday Okpebholo; former Deputy Governor Lucky Imasuen; and former APC governorship candidate Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Others who secured clearance are former Governor Oserheimen Osunbor, former APC chairman Col. David Imuse, and former Executive Director of Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Maj-Gen. Charles Airhiavbere.

In an official statement released by APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Arugungu, it was confirmed that all cleared aspirants would receive their Certificate of Screening clearance at the party’s secretariat.

This development marks a significant milestone in the lead-up to the primary election, setting the stage for a robust and competitive electoral process within the APC in Edo State.
