170 Suspects arraigned for robbery, drug trafficking in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has reported that out of the 307 suspects apprehended during a coordinated raid operation led by FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, on February 11 at Gidan-Dambe, Dei-dei – Zuba, Abuja, 170 have been profiled and arraigned at the Abuja Environmental Protection Board Mobile Court in Area 3, Garki District.

 

According to the statement released by FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, after screening, 170 of the arrested suspects were found culpable.

 

Of the 170 suspects, 165 were arraigned for simple and misdemeanour offences, while five individuals, namely Al zuma Aliyu, Mohammed Yakubu, Ishiaku Yakubu, Abubakar Lawal, and Abba Mohammed, faced charges related to armed robbery and illicit drug peddling.

 

The remaining 137 suspects, who were not implicated in any offence, were released with warnings to avoid association with criminal elements.

 

FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth C. Igweh, reiterated the commitment to conducting such operations regularly to rid the territory of criminal activities and ensure public safety.
