Fatal accident claims 5 lives on Lagos-Ibadan expressway
Tragedy struck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway as five individuals lost their lives in a devastating accident at Fidiwo bridge. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State confirmed the incident, revealing that four others sustained injuries in the collision.
Mrs. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for FRSC in Ogun, disclosed the details of the accident to journalists in Abeokuta. The collision, which occurred around 2:48 pm, involved a Prime bus with registration number MUS 191 HA and a Toyota Camry car marked AKD 754 BG.
According to Okpe, the accident involved nine individuals, consisting of six females and three male adults. Excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking were cited as possible causes of the tragic incident, leading to a loss of control.
“Five persons lost their lives in the crash, including three female and two male adults,” Okpe stated.
The injured victims were promptly taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the FOS morgue in Ipara.
This unfortunate incident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and underscores the need for road safety awareness and adherence to traffic regulations.
