Lagos cracks down on Noise Pollution: Churches and Hotels sealed
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken action against noise pollution, temporarily closing down five churches and 19 hotels between March 23 and April 26, as reported by reporters on Saturday.
During this period, LASEPA also shut down four markets and shopping complexes due to noise pollution and other environmental violations.
Among the churches temporarily sealed are St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, and an unnamed Catholic Church.
Affected hotels include School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel and Suites, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel and Suites, and Lekki Hotel and Suites.
In a statement shared by the state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Friday, it was revealed that establishments in areas like Ifako-Ijaiye, Abule-Egba, Alagbado, Command, Abesan Estate, and Dopemu were sealed for noise pollution.
The statement emphasized the importance of businesses adhering to environmental standards and highlighted the need for compliance with regulations to mitigate noise pollution and other environmental breaches.
