Athlete, 61, passes away during the swimming segment of the Swansea triathlon

According to the triathlon’s organizers, a 61-year-old competitor passed away while swimming during the event in Swansea.

Activity Wales Events expressed deep sorrow as they confirmed the passing of the athlete and extended their heartfelt condolences to the athlete’s family.

In addition, the organizers expressed their gratitude and paid tribute to the remarkable dedication of the first responders, including the volunteers, who were present at the event.

The South Wales Police expressed their sympathy, emphasizing that their thoughts are with the man’s family and friends during this difficult time.

The Swansea Triathlon had a significant participation of up to 1,500 individuals.

On Sunday, the Police, Wales Ambulance Service, and St John Ambulance collaborated in their dedicated efforts to provide help.

In a Facebook post, Activity Wales Events extended their gratitude to the swim safety team, St John’s Ambulance, the fast response team, the police, volunteers, and members of the public who assisted at the scene.

After receiving a call at around 09:15 BST, the Welsh Ambulance Service responded to a medical emergency.

The Welsh Ambulance Service arrived quickly with a rapid response vehicle, an emergency ambulance, and an emergency medical retrieval and transfer service.

St John’s Ambulance provided significant assistance in their endeavors.
