Court remands suspected armed robbers. Three men have been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for alleged armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. Akinyemi, did not allow the defendants to enter their pleas and sent the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
The case has been adjourned by Akinyemi until July 26 for the response of the DPP.
The defendants are charged with conspiracy, stealing, receiving stolen property, and robbery.
The defendants, along with others who are still at large, were accused of committing offenses on April 13 at Ogba Road, Agege, Lagos, according to the prosecutor, DSP Chinalu Nwadione.
According to Nwadione, the defendants used knives to rob Mr. Musa Ganiyu of N20,000.
The defendants were accused of stealing 504 cartons of origin bitters worth N4.5 million, which belonged to Fafem Haulage Nigeria Ltd.
According to Nwadione, the defendants were found with five cartons of origin bitters worth N45,000, which were suspected to be stolen property.
The prosecutor listed the sections of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 that were violated by the offenses.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stealing carries a three-year jail term under Section 287, while conspiracy is punishable by two years under Section 411.
