FG Approves N25,000 allowance for doctors

Federal Government Of Nigeria

FG Approves N25,000 allowance for doctors. The Federal Government has approved the payment of a N25,000 odd allowance to medical and dental doctors working in federal government hospitals, medical centers, and clinics.

This was revealed in a letter headed “Accoutrement allowance for medical and dental doctors in federal MDA hospitals, medical centers, and clinics” dated July 26, 2023.

The letter was signed by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Ekpo Nta.

The letter read, “The Federal Government has approved the payment of an Accoutrement allowance of twenty-five naira (N25,000.00) per quarter to Medical and Dental Doctors in hospitals, medical centres, and clinics in the Federal Public Service. The allowance is to be paid from the overhead budget.

“The approval by FG is effective on June 1, 2023.” Any questions about this circular should be directed to the Commission.”

The PUNCH gathered that the release of the circular regarding the allowance may not be unconnected to the ongoing indefinite strike embarked on by members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors.

Meanwhile, the President of NARD, Dr Emeka Oji, in a recent interview with The PUNCH, said doctors were demanding about 500 per cent salary increase from the government.
