Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps
Promotion is certain NSCDC boss assures officers. Ahmed Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, stated on Wednesday that he inherited sluggish promotion of staff members, which was lowering morale.
He, on the other hand, claimed to have been able to reverse the trend by promising his workers of regular promotion.
Audi made the revelation at the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja, while addressing at the decoration of newly promoted Assistant Commandants General and Commandants of Corps by the Federal Government.
He stated that sluggish advancement has lowered staff morale and led to indiscipline among employees.
“Before my arrival, it was on record that stagnation has dampened staff morale, heightened indiscipline, and has also led to loss of confidence in the system, borne out of perceived injustice and an unregulated pattern of promotion,” he said.
“In addition, there were no set standards in the Corps for measuring performance and career progression.” As a result, I resolved to seize the bull by the horns and correct this anomaly by ensuring regular promotions to restore staff trust and increase morale when it was at its lowest point.
“There was stagnation, some for eight years, some for ten years, some for twelve years, and one for thirteen years as a Deputy Commandant.” This is extremely unjust. That is correct.
Audi stated that there were instances where juniors were placed ahead of seniors due to “some special CG lists,” which he immediately annulled after taking over.
“When confronted with this challenge, I made a commitment to address the observed irregularities, particularly in the promotion of officers and men, as well as the issue of career progression, and I can state with pride, responsibility, and dignity that I have kept to my promise,” he said.
“The recent promotion exercise, from which over 21,000 personnel benefited, exemplifies our commitment to putting words into action.” The exercise was unprecedented in the Service’s history and signified a significant shift from previous experiences.”
Audi informed everyone that the Corps’ stagnation was over, adding he was committed to keeping the same pace to generate a strong incentive, great morale, and job satisfaction for staff.
He urged all officers who were being decorated to view their promotion as a summons to greater responsibility, and urged them to strengthen their devotion and production.
“It is equally expected to reflect in job efficiency, effectiveness and dedication as well as increased loyalty,” he went on to say.
The NSCDC CG stated that he would continue to promote uniformity, consistency, fairness, and impartiality in merit-based personnel promotion.
