Pakistan condemns Iranian airstrike: summons ambassador Over ‘Unacceptable’ attack.
In a concerning development, Pakistan has strongly condemned an Iranian airstrike that resulted in the tragic death of two children and injuries to three others. Islamabad accuses Iran of violating its airspace in an attack targeting the armed group Jaish al-Adl. Pakistan has summoned Tehran’s top diplomat in Islamabad to address the incident, describing the attack as “completely unacceptable” and warning of serious consequences.
The strike, reported on Tuesday, allegedly targeted two bases of Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan’s mountainous Balochistan province. Iran’s state media claimed the use of missiles and drones in the attack, attributing it to Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard. While Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry did not specify the incident’s location, sources suggest damage to a mosque in Balochistan’s Panjgur district.
Tensions between Tehran and Islamabad have been fueled by accusations of harboring armed groups, with both countries frequently pointing fingers at each other. Pakistan emphasizes the need for coordinated action against terrorism in the region, denouncing unilateral acts that undermine bilateral trust and confidence.
The incident follows Iran’s missile strikes into northern Syria and Iraq earlier in the week, targeting the ISIL group and what Iran referred to as an Israeli “spy headquarters” in Erbil. The international community reacts to these actions, with Iraq labeling the attacks as a “blatant violation” of its sovereignty and recalling its ambassador from Tehran.
