UK appoints Cynthia Rowe as development director in Nigeria
The UK government has designated Ms. Cynthia Rowe as the new Development Director for the British High Commission in Nigeria, succeeding Mr. Christopher Prycroft. Rowe, a seasoned development diplomat, brings a wealth of experience from various global assignments, including roles in Nepal, Afghanistan, and Sierra Leone.
Before assuming the role of Development Director in Nigeria, Rowe held positions such as Head of Governance, Political, and Services at the British Embassy in Kathmandu. She also served as Senior Councillor for policy in the Department for International Development, Tanzania, and played a crucial role as Head of Mission/Lead for Ebola Operations in Sierra Leone.
Having contributed to the redesign of UK Local Government systems and critically assessed government performance with the Audit Commission in the UK, Rowe brings a diverse background from both private and public sectors.
Expressing her enthusiasm for her new assignment in Nigeria, Rowe emphasized her passion for strengthening the UK’s close relationship with Nigeria. She acknowledged the significant accomplishments of her predecessor in areas such as health, education, and governance, highlighting the ongoing collaborative efforts with women and girls.
Rowe affirmed her commitment to addressing humanitarian needs, expressing eagerness to collaborate with UK government colleagues and the Nigerian government to advance Nigeria’s development agenda.
