The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike, assures residents of imminent positive news in the ongoing efforts to address insecurity in the FCT. During a townhall meeting in Kwali, Wike expressed readiness to support security agencies, pledging swift actions to enhance safety for residents.

“We are committed to providing whatever our security agencies need to ensure our people can sleep with peace of mind. Expect positive stories in a matter of days,” Wike assured.

The minister directed area councils to empower local vigilante groups, providing them with motorcycles for improved mobility in supporting security efforts. He emphasized the importance of actionable information from residents to aid security agencies in preventing and addressing security threats.

In addition to security measures, Wike promised infrastructural development, including the construction of two roads in each of the six area councils. The minister declared a shift in the FCT annual budgeting process, incorporating inputs from the people to prioritize people-oriented projects.

Kwali Area Council Chairman, Mr Danladi Chiya, echoed concerns about rising insecurity, appealing for the establishment of a police divisional office, military base, and improved roads. Wike acknowledged the requests, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing security and infrastructure issues.
