Elijah Blue Allman’s father was not granted temporary conservatorship
A US judge denied Cher’s plea for a temporary conservatorship over her son Elijah Blue Allman.
The singer requested the order last year, citing mental health concerns and suspected drug misuse by Allman.
However, Jessica A. Uzcategui, a judge in Los Angeles Superior Court, has rejected the motion.
She claimed that Allman has demonstrated that “he has managed his finances” and “has remained drug free,” according to US media.
A number of drug tests were required of Allman before to the hearing.
A conservatorship is typically awarded by a court to people—such as those suffering from dementia or other mental illnesses—who are incapable of making their own decisions.
It can be used to handle a person’s personal or financial matters, or both.
During Monday’s court, Cher’s attorneys raised worries regarding Allman’s mental health once more, according to US publication People.
“I don’t question Cher’s concerns being driven by concern for her son,” the judge declared. I don’t believe [Allman] contests that.
However, she came to the conclusion that a lot of the arguments made by the celebrity’s legal team were speculative and motivated by “fears”.
Ms. Uzcategui will still take into consideration a more extensive, long-term conservatorship during a hearing in March, according to the AP news agency.
