The Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hanatu Musawa, has extended her heartfelt condolences to the movie industry, the family, and friends of the late Nollywood comic actor, Tolani Oyebamiji, affectionately known as “Sisi Quadri,” following his demise on Friday.

Ms. Musawa, through her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Nneka Anibeze, expressed profound shock at the sudden passing of the renowned Yoruba actor.

Additionally, Ms. Musawa lamented the loss of another prominent figure in the Nollywood scene, John Okafor, famously known as Mr. Ibu. She described Mr. Ibu’s death as “one death, too many,” expressing deep sorrow over the tragic occurrence.

In a statement, Ms. Musawa remarked on the unfortunate timing of Sisi Quadri’s passing, noting that he should have been enjoying the fruits of his labor, particularly with the recent release of a movie titled “Anikulapo: The Return of Spectre,” where he delivered a stellar performance.

The demise of Sisi Quadri, who was known for his dominance in online comedy skits and the Yoruba movie industry, has left a significant void in the entertainment world. His breakthrough came with his portrayal of a controversial character in the Yoruba epic film, “Seniyan Seranko,” captivating audiences with his exceptional talent for satire.

Turning her attention to Mr. Ibu’s passing, Ms. Musawa expressed profound sadness, emphasizing the loss felt by the entire entertainment industry. She described Mr. Ibu as a household name whose acting career brought joy to countless families.

The timing of Mr. Ibu’s demise, occurring just twenty-four hours after Sisi Quadri’s passing, further compounded the sorrow felt within the entertainment community. Emeka Rollas, the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, confirmed Mr. Ibu’s death, revealing that the 62-year-old actor succumbed to a cardiac arrest.

As the industry mourns the loss of these two iconic figures, their legacies will continue to live on in the hearts of fans and fellow colleagues. May their souls rest in peace.
