Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have accepted an invitation from Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, to visit Nigeria.

British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Dr Richard Montgomerry, shared the news during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, revealing that the royal couple would be visiting Nigeria in a private capacity, not officially representing the British government.

Their visit is set to commence with Prince Harry attending the 10th anniversary celebration of the Invictus Games in London on May 8, followed by Meghan joining him in Nigeria for various engagements focused on cultural exchange and supporting veterans’ welfare.

During their time in Nigeria, the couple will visit military rehabilitation centres, sports facilities, and engage with local organizations working towards veterans’ welfare. They will also participate in cultural events and discussions with community leaders.

This visit holds special significance as it highlights Prince Harry’s dedication to the Invictus Games, an event promoting inclusivity and sportsmanship among wounded servicemen and women.

Meghan’s connection to Nigeria through her revealed Nigerian ancestry strengthens the bond between her and the Nigerian people, fostering a sense of shared identity and belonging.
