In a statement released on Sunday, Ohanaeze emphasized the need for constructive engagement over unwarranted criticism, stating that such approaches do not serve the nation’s interest
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization condemned the vilification of Umahi and called for respectful dialogue to foster collaboration and gain authentic insights into national development project
Umahi had accused Obi of inciting the South East populace against the Federal Government over the coastal highway project, labeling it a “job-losing” endeavor. In response, Obi defended his actions during his tenure as governor, emphasizing the removal of structures obstructing existing road
Ohanaeze reiterated its solidarity with Nigerians and commended President Tinubu and Senator Umahi for their commitment to enhancing national infrastructure, citing the recent allocation of a compensation fund for affected property owners along the project’s Right-of-Way
The organization urged stakeholders to prioritize collective advancement and engage in constructive dialogue to address decades-long neglect of critical infrastructure in the region
Umahi disclosed that the FG would commence the payment of compensation to property owners affected by the demolition necessary for the construction of the coastal highway
