Unity and reconciliation: PDP leaders strategize to reclaim Ondo.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed confidence in the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ability to win back Ondo State from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election slated for November 2024.
Makinde made this declaration during a gathering of party leaders from the South-West geopolitical zone in Ibadan. The meeting aimed to initiate the process of reconciling various PDP factions in Ondo State, with a view to presenting a united front for the forthcoming polls.
Asserting the solidarity within the PDP, Governor Makinde emphasized the party’s determination to rally behind its gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, alongside other stakeholders, to ensure a robust electoral performance.
The Oyo State governor underscored the significance of fostering unity among PDP members in Ondo State, as a crucial step towards securing victory at the ballot box. He highlighted the support garnered from PDP leaders across the South-West region, signaling a formidable challenge to the incumbent administration.
Similarly, Senator Ademola Adeleke of Osun State echoed Makinde’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of unity within the PDP ranks. He commended the transparent process that led to Ajayi’s emergence as the party’s candidate, affirming PDP’s commitment to democratic principles.
In his remarks, PDP gubernatorial candidate Agboola Ajayi expressed gratitude to Governors Makinde and Adeleke, as well as other party leaders, for their unwavering support. He reiterated the PDP’s resilience and unity, vowing to deliver victory in the upcoming election.
The meeting was attended by notable figures including former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State, former Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP Chief Olabode George, and other prominent party members.
As the PDP intensifies its efforts to reclaim Ondo State, unity and reconciliation remain paramount in consolidating the party’s stronghold in the region.
